Sciots update

Sciots Family,

We know you all are closely watching the events unfold around Camp during the Caldor Fire. At the time of drafting this email, Camp is safe and is being protected by Cal Fire and US Forest Service crews. However mandatory evacuations have been issued from Echo Summit to Christmas Valley.

The executive board held a virtual discussion on what to do about the remainder of the year’s events and the elections. This is what was decided:

Labor Day and the Centennial activities have been canceled.

Executive Board elections will be by mail in ballot. Cabin owners who receive correspondence via email will receive an electronic ballot and those who receive US Mail correspondence will receive a paper ballot with a self-addressed envelope from the election committee, Tony Wirt and Robert Carisoza. You’ll be requested to reply electronically and mail in the paper ballot by a given due date. There will be one vote per cabin.

The 2nd Workday has been postponed until we can get into Camp to evaluate its condition.

The water will not be chlorinated for the remainder of the year.

The Laundry room will remain open until concerns of the pipes freezing.

Like you, we’ve been following several forms of media to track the Caldor Fire and Camp’s condition. We’re holding our breath and crossing our fingers that the clean-up work that was done during the Spring and during the workday, will pay dividends by assisting the Fire service agencies help keep Camp safe.

We’ve found one good source of info if you follow on Twitter, craig philpott @CphilpottCraig

He has been in camp a couple of time this past week. These pictures were taken earlier today.

Keep the Faith….
